Art Prints, Photographic Prints and Poster Framing

Home||Services||Art Prints, Photographic Prints and Poster Framing

Art Prints, Photographic Prints and Posters are one of the few most popular items to be framed. No matter what the size and colour, there is always the suitable frame for it.

Framing does not only apply to expensive museum works. Photographs of family vacations, art prints and posters you purchase from a comic store are just as valuable as original prints.

What is the difference between Art Prints, Photographs and Posters?
Art Prints are made up of 100% cotton paper. Art Prints are reproduction of the artist’s original work printed with high quality machine. It is a term used to describe a type of reproduction, a copy of an original work of art.
Photographic Prints are printed on a photo print paper, it has a smooth surface – either a matte or glossy finish. It is a reproduction of a photograph or even an artwork. The colours on Photographic Prints are vibrant yet natural.
Posters are made up from poster paper, it is water resistant and doesn’t cringe easy. It is slightly thicker than normal printing paper too.

The framing styles we can use for the above items, can be the same.

Various Framing Styles

Framed with direct framing – One of the go-to framing style. The frame is placed directly around the artwork/print with the glazing on the artwork/print. However, we don’t typically recommend this option as it will depreciate the artwork/print overtime as the glazing is in direct contact. In addition to that in Singapore’s humid climate there might be a chance of water condensation inside of the frame and molding will occur. We will recommend this style only when the client says it is for decorative purposes or if it has no significant value to the particular artwork/print.

Frame with matboard – This is a classic framing style which we frequently recommend. The purpose of the matboard is to ensure that the glazing is not resting directly on the artwork/print but on the mat board instead. The mat board also allows the viewer to have a breathing space for the eye to roam and enjoy the artwork/print without it being too close to the frame.

Framed with single or double matboard

Framed with floating framing – This gives a 3D effect to the framed artwork. The artwork/print is mounted onto a foam backing to give depth that creates a shadow when the light hits, followed by a base matting and a box frame with raised up glazing.

Conservation Framing:

It would be appropriate for works on paper such as Original Works, Limited Editioned Prints, Fine Art Print to be framed in archival materials to ensure it is kept and sealed in a well-preserved environment.

Ideally framing with Acid Free Matting would be good as the works on paper will not be in direct contact with the glazing. If the surface of the work is touching the glazing, moulding will occur especially in our humid climate.

We carry a range of glazing options with UV protection that protects your artworks against fading of colors. Furthermore, these glazing are anti-reflective for better visibility on your artwork.

Below are the glazing options for your selection:

  1. Plexiglass UV100 (99.7% UV Protection, shatter resistant)
  2. Groglass Artglass AR 99™ (99% UV Protection, anti-reflective)
  3. Groglass Artglass AR 70™ (70% UV Protection, anti-reflective)
  4. TRU VUE® Optium Museum Acrylic® (99% UV Protection, anti-reflective)
