Chinese Rice Paper Works are very delicate works as they made from rice and plant fibres. In order to preserve the work, the team will wet mount (duo di / 裝裱) the calligraphy work. It is a process where a natural glue made from wheat starch will be applied onto the back of the calligraphy work and the rice paper and let dry. This process is reversible and is safe for the work. After this is completed, we can start the framing process as per normal.
The commonly preferred frames are our solid wood frames – Pine, Oak, Teak and Redwood stained Black Oak or Dark Brown. This gives more of a traditional look to the works. Alternatively, if you want a modern look, our silver, gold and black frames will help accentuate the characters and elements in the work more.
It would be appropriate for works on paper such as Original Works, Limited Editioned Prints, Fine Art Print to be framed in archival materials to ensure it is kept and sealed in a well-preserved environment.

Ideally framing with Acid Free Matting would be good as the works on paper will not be in direct contact with the glazing. If the surface of the work is touching the glazing, moulding will occur especially in our humid climate.
We carry a range of glazing options with UV protection that protects your artworks against fading of colors. Furthermore, these glazing are anti-reflective for better visibility on your artwork.
Below are the glazing options for your selection:
